Dodo Les Bobos Opening
Dee, I went to the opening of Dodo les Bobos, such an amazing shop in Beirut. They carry unique furniture, accessories, bedsheets and toys for kids. Their designs are so lovely - I want to buy everything for my future kids…. and, I admit it, for myself. They carry brands such as Inke Design Wallpaper, Ketiketa, Laurette, Mimi'Lou, La cerise sur le gateau, Numero N74, Oeuf, Lale and more...
I leave you with some pictures.

The fashionable fruit
Rush,
Ever came across this fruit? It's a pineberry! A hybrid of strawberry and It looks like one and tastes between strawberry and pineapple. It is bred from 2 cultivars, one of them is a wild strawberry cultivar found in South America and was almost getting extinct. It only started appearing on the fruit shelves in 2009, so it's pretty recent. Found it at Waitrose today. Yum!

Bavarian dinner!
Rasha, look what was for dinner tonight? Fresh white sausages from Munich with mustard and wheat beer. All that was from my friend who doesnt want his name to be revealed but known Mr Bhaji Can. I have never had such delicious sausages! He also sent me a long email on how to cook them, how to prepare the beer, and how to eat the sausage! All followed by YouTube videos.
How to fill your beer glass the Bavarian way ;) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TqaBKv7KPRg
How to eat your sausages http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7rueyNSQA4o&feature=related
and apparently 1 and 2 are only for tourists, eat it as way 3 or 4.
Ok now I'll let the photos speak :-)

Create your own bike
Ever since I came to London last year, I always wanted to have my own bike. It is fun to drive it there. I guess it is a dream to have one in Beirut as you know how people drive here :)
Guess what I came across a website where you can customize your own bike and choose the colors for each parts of the bike. How cool is that? Check www.republicbike.com and have fun building yours.
Here is how my bike would look like?
How about yours?

Re Picasso and British Artists
Dee, I guess Picasso 's saying is so true ‘Good artists copy, great artists steal.’
The art works look amazing as usual, do you happen to know the name of the painting that took your breath away?

Picasso and British Artists
Rasha,
I finally had the time today to go see the exhibition of Picasso and British Artists at Tate Britain which opened in February and will be on until July 15th. The exhibition is about Picasso and the influence he had on British artists such as Ben Nicholson, Francis Bacon, Henry Moore, David Hockney and a few others.
I have to say that I was really excited to go see the exhibition and I went today and left a bit disappointed. They showed his work from the early 1900s up to the late 1930s and it's really amazing to see the chronology, eventhough this wasn't very evident in the exhibit. Putting his work next to the British artists didn't work really well. You feel that they have tried to copy him but they failed, and it is quite undermining for British artists I felt. Picasso was way ahead of them, they have reproduced their 1920s 'Picasso inspired paintings' in the 1930s when Picasso was already exploring other styles and ideas.
There were some amazing paintings especially by Francis Bacon and David Hockney but it was hard to see the relationship with Picasso.
The only exhibition I have been to and is comparable to this one is Piet Mondrian exhibition in Rome in November last year, where they showed his work alongside other artists of the same era, I find it was more engaging and much clearer.
One of my favourite paintings in the exhibition is 'Head of a Woman' and Picasso's little costume design illustrations that he did for a Diaghilev ballet show in London.
I wish it was a solo Picasso exhibition, it would have probably worked better, but this doesn't mean that it's not worth seeing. Some of the work displayed is just fascinating.
